Sarah Chodera is a strategic marketing professional with deep expertise in diversified financial services, nonprofit work and the arts. Her passion is enabling organizations to grow their influence, engagement and capacity through singular branding; immersive, multi-channel content; and agile, efficient marketing technology.
From 2019 – 2026, Sarah held the role of Chief Marketing Officer at Mesirow Financial. In this role, she led marketing and communications strategy and execution across internal communications and all external media channels. Functional areas of responsibility included brand strategy and management, marketing technology, executive and corporate communications, media relations, thought leadership, product marketing and events.
Prior to joining Mesirow in 2019, Sarah was Senior Managing Director and Head of Marketing, Advertising & Brand at Nuveen, where she was a voting member of the firm’s Advisory Services Product Committee. Before that, Sarah spent 14 years as Head of Retail and Institutional Marketing at Goldman Sachs Asset Management.
Over the years, Sarah has also provided strategic brand and marketing guidance to organizations including Science and Arts Academy, the Frank Lloyd Wright Home & Studio, and Lookingglass Theatre.
Throughout her career, Sarah has been active in Employee Resource Groups and as a mentor. She is a member of P.E.O. International, a philanthropic organization that advances women's education and was named one of Crain's Chicago Business Notable Women Executives Over 50 in 2020. Sarah earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Carleton College and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Chicago. She holds FINRA Series 7 and 24 licenses.
